Q&A — Ask the Speaker
EventHex provides a dedicated public Q&A page where attendees can submit questions to speakers during sessions — no app download or login required.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”- Organizer enables Q&A for the session in the CMS.
- Share the Q&A link — display the URL or QR code at the venue.
- Attendees visit the page and type their question.
- Submit — press Enter or tap the send button.
- Organizer moderates — reviews questions in the CMS and selects which to spotlight.
- Speaker addresses questions — spotlight questions appear on venue screens.
The Q&A Page (/ask/[eventId])

- Question input area — large text area for typing questions
- Enter to submit — press Enter to send (Shift+Enter for new line)
- Minimum 3 characters — basic validation to prevent empty submissions
- Send button — alternative to keyboard shortcut
After Submitting
Section titled “After Submitting”- Submitted questions list — shows all questions the attendee has submitted with timestamps
- Send count — indicator showing how many questions have been submitted
- Questions appear in the organizer’s moderation queue
Emoji Reactions
Section titled “Emoji Reactions”Attendees can react to the session or topic with 5 emoji reactions:

Reactions give speakers and organizers a quick pulse check on audience sentiment.
States

Session Scoping
Section titled “Session Scoping”The Q&A page can be scoped to a specific session using a query parameter:
/ask/[eventId]?session=[sessionId]This is useful when running Q&A for multiple simultaneous sessions — each room can have its own QR code linking to the session-specific Q&A page.
If no session parameter is provided, questions are submitted to the event-level Q&A queue.
Display Mode Integration
Section titled “Display Mode Integration”Submitted questions feed into the Q&A Spotlight display mode for venue screens:
- Questions auto-cycle every 8 seconds on screen
- Moderated/approved questions are shown with a progress bar timer
- Emoji reactions are displayed alongside each question
- AV team can use keyboard navigation to manually advance questions

Sharing the Q&A Link
Section titled “Sharing the Q&A Link”Options

- Event website — link from the session detail page
- Mobile app — built-in Q&A within the session view
- Announcement — share the URL in push notifications or chat
