Leaderboards & Points System

The leaderboard is where competition happens. Attendees see their rank, points, and how close they are to the top — driving them to complete more challenges.

Go to Gamification → Leaderboard.

The leaderboard shows:

You can search by email to find a specific participant.

Configure how the leaderboard behaves:

Display Top N — controls how many participants are shown on the public leaderboard in the mobile app. Set to 10 for a competitive top-10, or 50 for more inclusive visibility.

Tie Breaker — when two attendees have the same score, “First to reach score” gives the higher rank to whoever got there first.

Anonymous Mode — when enabled, participant names are hidden on the public leaderboard. Only the current attendee can see their own name. Useful for events where attendees may prefer privacy.

Points are awarded automatically when attendees complete challenges:

  1. Attendee opens the Gamification module in the mobile app.
  2. They browse available challenges.
  3. They complete a challenge (scan QR, visit booth, enter contest).
  4. Points are added to their total instantly.
  5. Their leaderboard rank updates in real-time.

Attendees see the leaderboard in the Gamification module:

  • Their rank — highlighted row showing their current position
  • Top performers — ranked list of the top N participants
  • Points to next rank — how many more points they need to move up
  • Available challenges — what challenges they can still complete to earn points

During the event, check the leaderboard periodically:

  • Verify legitimate completions — make sure attendees are actually completing challenges, not just scanning QR codes from photos.
  • Check engagement — if participation is low, send an app update reminding attendees about gamification.
  • Adjust points — if a challenge is too easy and everyone has completed it, consider adding more challenges or increasing points for remaining challenges.
  • Watch for ties — if the top positions are tied, the tie-breaker rule resolves it automatically.

  • Show the leaderboard on screens — display the live leaderboard on screens in common areas (registration, lunch, networking lounge). Public visibility drives competition.
  • Announce standings — have the MC announce the top 3 at the start of each day. “Our current leader is [Name] with 450 points! Can anyone catch up today?”
  • Keep it fair — if you notice fraudulent completions, you can manually remove points before declaring winners.
  • End gamification before the closing ceremony — freeze the leaderboard 30 minutes before the prize announcement so everyone knows the final standings.
  • Photograph the winners — when you award prizes, take photos of the winners. Post them to social media with the gamification stats.
