In-App Chat & Networking
Networking is one of the most valuable features of the mobile app. Attendees can discover each other, send connection requests, schedule meetings, and chat — turning a passive audience into an active community.
Enable Networking
Section titled “Enable Networking”- Go to Attendee Mobile App → App Modules.
- Toggle Networking to On.
- This automatically unlocks two additional modules:
- Meetings — 1:1 meeting scheduling
- Messaging — in-app chat
- Toggle Meetings and Messaging on if you want them.
Attendee Directory
Section titled “Attendee Directory”When Networking is enabled, attendees can:
- Browse all attendees — see names, companies, designations, and profile photos
- Search — find specific attendees by name or company
- Filter — narrow by ticket type, industry, or company
- View profiles — see attendee details and shared interests
Connections
Section titled “Connections”Attendees can send connection requests:
- An attendee finds someone interesting in the directory.
- They click Connect.
- The recipient receives a notification.
- The recipient accepts or declines.
- Once connected, they can message each other and schedule meetings.
Meetings
Section titled “Meetings”When the Meetings module is enabled, attendees can schedule 1:1 meetings:
- An attendee browses the directory or their connections.
- They click Schedule Meeting on someone’s profile.
- They propose a time and location.
- The recipient accepts, declines, or suggests an alternative.
- Both attendees see the meeting on their schedule.
Meetings appear in the attendee’s personal agenda alongside sessions they’ve bookmarked.
In-App Messaging
Section titled “In-App Messaging”When Messaging is enabled:
- Connected attendees can send real-time chat messages
- Messages appear in a dedicated Messages tab
- Supports text messages
- Message notifications alert attendees of new messages
Event Chat
Section titled “Event Chat”Go to Attendee Mobile App → Event Chat for a global event chat room:
- All attendees can participate in a shared chat
- Useful for general Q&A, social interactions, and announcements
- Organizers can moderate the chat
Privacy & Controls
Section titled “Privacy & Controls”| Setting | What It Controls |
|---|---|
| Sign In Required | Only registered attendees can access networking features |
| Privacy Policy | Your event-specific privacy policy visible to attendees |
Attendees can control their own visibility:
- They can choose to opt out of the directory
- They can block specific attendees
- They can disable message notifications
Best Practices
Section titled “Best Practices”- Promote networking before the event — send an email: “Download the app and start connecting with fellow attendees before you arrive.” Pre-event networking drives higher app adoption.
- Enable Meetings for B2B events — at trade shows and business conferences, the ability to schedule 1:1 meetings is a premium feature that attendees love.
- Keep Messaging for multi-day events — for a 1-day workshop, messaging adds complexity without much value. For a 3-day conference, it’s essential.
- Curate the directory — make sure attendee profiles have names, companies, and designations filled in. An empty directory with just names and emails isn’t useful for networking.
- Monitor Event Chat — assign a team member to moderate the global event chat, answer questions, and remove inappropriate messages.
